COME PLAY WITH US AT SUN-N-FUN CREATIVE PLAYGROUP!

We are a cooperative parent participation preschool, started in 1966. Parents are involved in the planning and operation of the school and its activities, experiencing first-hand the joy of watching their child experiment and explore. We come together to provide the best learning opportunities for our children and to share our children's early school experiences.

We put an emphasis on activities that promote the child’s creative, cognitive, physical and social growth. We run a supportive, self-directive program designed to stimulate the children’s imaginations and meet their needs.

The intimate social setting at Sun-N-Fun fosters each child’s emerging independence in a safe and focused arena. Our philosophy is to encourage our children's natural curiosity and quest for knowledge in a loving, caring environment.

PRESCHOOL & KINDERGARTEN LEARNING

• Social development, problem solving and conflict resolution

• Language development and self-confidence building

• Creative enrichment through art and child-centered craft activities as well as varied music experiences

• Imaginative play including dress up and role play

• Large motor skill development through active play in the well equipped Sun-N-Fun play yard

• Fine motor skill activities which are a necessary precursor to writing

• Pre-reading skills including name writing and alphabet awareness

• Pre-mathematic activities which promote smooth transition into later math learning

• Science projects and cooking

SUN 'N FUN SPECIFICS

• Children must be potty trained

• Minimum age of 3 years old by December 1st for junior attendee; minimum age of 4 years old by December 1st for senior attendee

• Class size is 15-20 students per day; senior class attends 3 days per week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.; junior class attends 2 days per week (Tuesday, Thursday) from 9:00am until 12:00pm

• Parents work at school approximately 2 times per month with a possibility of 2 emergency work days per month. Working hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

• Adult to child ratio is 1 to 5

• Parents are asked to attend field trips (we have one walking and one driving per month)

• Parents attend a monthly evening meeting, hold a job within the school and keep their designated area in the school clean

• Parents participate in fundraisers and sign up for eScrip (sign up at escrip.com, Group Name: Sun-N-Fun, Group ID: 136559819)

• We follow the Los Alamitos Unified School District, school year calendar

• Member of the California Association of Parent Participation Nursery Schools DSS License#300600936

• $100 non-refundable annual fee

• $150 annual materials fee

• $325 monthly tuition, senior class; $265 monthly tuition, junior class
